For the best chance of success in the Florida Panhandle, plant raspberries where they receive morning sun, protection from intense afternoon heat, excellent air circulation, and exceptionally good drainage. Mulch the root zone to help keep the soil cool, but keep mulch away from the base of the canes.

Raspberries may also be grown in large containers, making it easier to manage drainage, soil quality, moisture, and summer sun exposure. Blackberries and blueberries are generally more reliable berry crops for North Florida.
