MP-29 is especially valued for:

  • Resistance to Armillaria root rot (ARR) — much stronger than standard rootstocks like Guardian.

  • Resistance to peach tree short life (PTSL) similar to Guardian.

  • Resistance to several root-knot nematodes in sandy soils.

  • Semi-dwarf growth vigor — producing slightly smaller trees (~70–80 % size of standard rootstocks), which can be advantageous for high-density plantings and management.
