Jiro- considered to be one of the most cold-hardy non-astringent persimmons. The fruit is large, 4-lobed, slightly flattened and a beautiful orange-red color. Trees are more upright compared to the other Jiro types and have a fall folisge color. Fruit ripens mid-October to mid-November. Self-pollinating. If you were only going to have 1 persimmon tree, this is the one you want! It is s self pollinated heavy producer, but will produce larger fruit with a MAEKAWA JIRO planted nearby.
