Brogdon Avocado
Joey Avocado
Cross-pollination depends on overlapping flowering periods and favorable weather conditions.
❄️ North Florida Growing Note
Fantastic is one of the avocado varieties worth trying in North Florida, including the Florida Panhandle and nearby South Alabama.
Although it is known for better cold tolerance than many avocado varieties, young trees require protection from freezing weather, and even mature trees can suffer damage during severe or prolonged freezes.
For the best chance of success:
Plant in a sunny, protected location away from cold winter winds.
Choose the warmest microclimate available on your property.
Protect young trees during freezes.
Plant in well-drained soil or on a raised mound where drainage is poor.
Avoid planting in low areas where cold air collects.
Maintain mulch around the root zone, keeping it away from the trunk.
Our Recommendation: Fantastic is an interesting cold-hardy avocado option for adventurous North Florida gardeners. Good site selection and winter protection are important for long-term success.
