Buy Titan Blueberry plants for sale at Advanced Nursery Growers in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Titan is a vigorous Rabbiteye blueberry developed by the University of Georgia and named for its exceptionally large berries. The fruit frequently weighs more than 3 grams per berry—considerably larger than many traditional Rabbiteye varieties. The berries are firm, medium blue and have a small, dry picking scar, making them especially enjoyable for fresh eating and easy hand-picking.

Titan has a strong, upright growth habit and is well suited for home orchards, edible landscapes and pick-your-own plantings. It generally ripens during the early portion of the Rabbiteye blueberry season, around the same time as Alapaha and Premier and before Brightwell. Titan’s berries remain large throughout the harvest season and can hang on the bush well as they finish ripening.

Small white, bell-shaped flowers appear in spring and attract bees and other beneficial pollinators. Titan requires another compatible Rabbiteye blueberry with a similar bloom period for dependable cross-pollination and good fruit production. Do not use a Southern Highbush variety as Titan’s primary pollinator because Rabbiteye blueberries should be paired with other Rabbiteye cultivars.

Plant Titan in full sun and acidic, well-drained soil. Blueberries grow best with a soil pH of approximately 4.0–5.5. Pine bark, peat moss and other acidic organic materials can help improve sandy Florida soil and hold moisture around the plant’s shallow root system. Keep the soil evenly moist while the plant becomes established and while berries are developing, but avoid locations where water remains around the roots.

Titan is an excellent choice for gardeners who want an impressive, large-fruited blueberry. However, its oversized berries can be susceptible to splitting after heavy rainfall during ripening. Consistent watering and timely harvesting can help reduce losses.

Best Pollinator Partners

For the most dependable fruit production, plant Titan with at least one different Rabbiteye blueberry that flowers at approximately the same time.

Recommended partners from our selection include:

  • Alapaha Rabbiteye Blueberry
  • Premier Rabbiteye Blueberry
  • Krewer Rabbiteye Blueberry

Alapaha and Premier are especially good choices because they have a similar early-season cycle. Planting two or three compatible Rabbiteye varieties can improve pollination and extend the overall blueberry harvest.

North Florida Growing NoteTitan’s estimated requirement of 500–550 chill hours makes it best suited to locations that receive dependable winter chilling. It should perform better in the Florida Panhandle and parts of South Alabama than in warmer areas of central or southern Florida. Rabbiteye blueberries are generally among the best blueberry choices for North Florida because they are vigorous, heat tolerant and more forgiving than Southern Highbush blueberries.

Because Titan’s very large berries may crack following heavy rain, harvest ripe fruit promptly when wet summer weather is expected.
