What is a bare root tree?
It is that time of year again when orders will be taken for bare root trees These are trees that after they go dormant ( no leaves look like large sticks ) are dug up and processed. They are either stored in cold storage, shipped with no soil, or package in a bag with a little sawdust or soil so they can be send to the retail stores to sell. This is usually the most inexpensive way to purchase your trees. When planting these trees, be sure and soak them in water for a few hours and make sure the roots are fully hydrated. Then plant. Don't let them dry out but don't drown them or their roots will rot.
