uy UFOne Peach Trees for sale at Advanced Nursery Growers in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
UFOne Peach is a low-chill peach developed by the University of Florida for warm Southern growing regions. It produces attractive medium-to-large peaches with firm yellow flesh and a red blush over a yellow background. UFOne is especially well suited for Florida and Gulf Coast gardeners who need a peach variety with a relatively low winter chilling requirement.
The fruit has a very firm, non-melting texture, making it excellent for fresh eating, slicing, canning, and handling after harvest. UFOne trees are productive and capable of producing heavy annual crops when growing conditions are favorable.
Plant Details:
Plant Type: Deciduous fruit tree
Botanical Name: Prunus persica ‘UFOne’
Mature Size: Approximately 10–15 feet tall and wide with pruning
Sun: Full sun
USDA Zones: Approximately Zones 8–9
Chill Hours: Approximately 200–250 chill hours
Bloom: Late winter to early spring
Harvest: Early season; typically around late April to early May in North Florida, depending on weather
Fruit: Medium to large peaches with yellow skin and an attractive red blush
Flesh: Yellow, very firm, non-melting flesh
Stone Type: Semi-clingstone
Flavor: Sweet, pleasant peach flavor with firm texture
Pollination: Self-fertile
Soil: Prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil
Water: Water regularly during establishment and fruit development; avoid continuously wet soil
Landscape Uses: Home orchards, edible landscapes, U-pick plantings, and small fruit orchards
Pollination:
UFOne Peach is self-fertile, so only one tree is needed to produce fruit. Planting another peach variety with an overlapping bloom period may increase overall pollination activity and fruit production, but a second variety is not required.
UF/IFAS notes that Florida peach cultivars are self-fruitful. UFOne was released by the University of Florida and is known for regularly producing large crops of firm, marketable fruit.
North Florida Growing Note:
UFOne is a good choice for North Florida and other mild-winter areas because of its low chilling requirement. Selecting peaches with appropriate chill requirements is important because trees that receive insufficient winter chill may bloom unevenly and produce inconsistent crops.
