Sweetgum tree, liquidambar styraciflua a native plant  Leaves turn yellow-purple-red in the fall, and stay on the tree quite late.  Height is 60'-70', with a 45' spread. Tough, adaptable, and beautiful, Sweetgum rivals any maple for outstanding fall color and it lasts longer, too! Give it plenty of room to grow in the landscape. The females will eventually develop the spiny burr-like fruit that is valuable for wildlife. It can tolerate wet feet.
