It grows naturally in swamps and other low, moist places, making it a useful choice for a large property with ground that stays wet.

Swamp Tupelo develops into a substantial shade tree. Its flowers provide a spring resource for pollinators, and fruiting trees produce small, dark fruits eaten by wildlife. It is also valued for its fall foliage. Give this tree plenty of room to grow and choose a site where its roots can reach consistent moisture.
