Seaside Goldenrod is a native coastal wildflower known botanically as Solidago sempervirens seaside goldenrod.

Key features

  • Flower color: Bright golden yellow
  • Bloom time: Late summer into fall (great for extending color)
  • Height: Typically 3–6 ft tall
  • Foliage: Thick, somewhat succulent-looking leaves (helps with salt tolerance)
  • Growth habit: Upright clumps, not aggressively spreading like some goldenr
  • Salt tolerant – thrives near the coast (perfect for your region)
  • Drought tolerant once established
  • Pollinator magnet – bees, butterflies, and even migrating monarchs love it
  • Low maintenance native – handles poor sandy soils wellGoldenrod often gets blamed for allergies, but it’s actually ragweed (which blooms at the same time) that causes most problems. Goldenrod pollen is heavy and not easily airborne.
  • Great for native plant sections
  • Strong appeal for coastal landscapes & low-maintenance yards
  • Pairs well with things like muhly grass, coreopsis, and native asters
  • Nice option for customers wanting fall color without fuss
