Sharp Velvet Pomegranate is a distinctive fruiting variety prized for its large, deep-red fruit, very dark red arils, and refreshing mildly tart flavor. The rich color of the arils is the reason behind the name “Sharp Velvet,” with the seeds described as resembling crushed red velvet. It is an excellent choice for fresh eating, juicing, cooking, and edible landscaping.

Sharp Velvet has an upright growth habit and is known for setting heavy crops of highly ornamental fruit. The plant can be grown naturally as a multi-stemmed shrub or trained as a small tree, and its size can be controlled with summer pruning. Bright orange-red flowers add additional ornamental value before the fruit develops.
