Nanking Bush Cherry (Prunus tomentosa) Is not self-fertile. Two or more shrubs should be planted within 100' of each other to ensure cross-pollination. The tart, tangy fruit ripen in mid- to late summer and can be eaten fresh or used in pies, jams, and jellies. Ripens July to August.Beautiful blooms in spring, summer fruit, fruits in just 2-3 years. Very cold-hardy shrub which bears edible fruit the size of sour cherries, but with similar taste to sweet cherries. Grows to about 7′ high, 5′ wide.
