Late Fry Muscadine is a self-fertile bronze variety known for producing very large, attractive fruit late in the muscadine season. The juicy grapes have a sweet, traditional muscadine flavor that makes them especially enjoyable for eating fresh from the vine.

Because Late Fry ripens later than many popular varieties, it is a good choice for growers who want to extend their muscadine harvest. The vigorous vines perform well in the heat and humidity of North Florida, the Florida Panhandle, South Alabama, and other areas of the Southeast when planted in full sun with good air circulation.

Late Fry is self-fertile, so one vine can produce fruit without a separate pollinator. It can also provide pollen for nearby female-flowered muscadines such as Fry, Jumbo, Scarlett, Summit, and Scuppernong.

North Florida Growing Note

Late Fry is well suited to our long growing season and provides fruit after many earlier muscadines have finished. Plant it in an open, sunny location with good air circulation. Because the fruit can ripen unevenly, check the vine regularly and harvest individual grapes as they reach their best bronze color and flavor.

Good airflow, proper dormant pruning, and prompt harvesting are especially important during humid or rainy weather because Late Fry may be susceptible to fruit rot under unfavorable conditions.
