Buy Moringa Trees for sale at Advanced Nursery Growers in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
Moringa is a fast-growing tropical tree known for its attractive fern-like foliage, fragrant flowers, and long seed pods. It is widely grown in tropical and subtropical regions and is sometimes called the Drumstick Tree or Horseradish Tree.
Plant Details:
Plant Type: Fast-growing tropical tree
Botanical Name: Moringa oleifera
Mature Size: Approximately 20–35 ft. tall in frost-free climates; can be maintained smaller with pruning
Sun: Full sun
USDA Zones: Best suited to warm, frost-free climates; commonly grown as a seasonal or container plant in colder areas
Growth Habit: Upright, open-branched tree with soft, feathery foliage
Foliage: Green, finely divided leaves
Flowers: Small, fragrant white to cream-colored flowers
Fruit: Long, slender seed pods commonly called drumsticks
Pollination: Flowers are capable of producing seed without requiring a separate male and female tree
Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil but tolerates a range of soil types
Water: Moderate while establishing; relatively drought tolerant once established
Landscape Uses: Large containers, tropical gardens, edible gardens, and warm-climate specialty plantings
Cold Tolerance:
Moringa is a tropical plant and is sensitive to freezing temperatures. In North Florida and the Florida Panhandle, it may be damaged or killed back during freezes. Growing it in a large container allows the plant to be moved into a protected location during cold weather.
UF/IFAS notes that tropical plants are particularly susceptible to freeze injury, and container plants may also experience root damage during cold weather.
Florida Growing Note:
UF/IFAS currently classifies Moringa oleifera as having High Invasion Risk in North, Central, and South Florida and does not recommend it for general landscape planting in Florida. Customers should avoid allowing plants to spread into natural areas and should check current local recommendations before planting outdoors.
For North Florida, container growing and removal of seed pods before they mature can help limit unwanted spread.
Growing Tip: Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. Moringa grows quickly in warm weather and responds well to pruning, which can help maintain a shorter, bushier plant.
