Gordon/Geneva  Persimmon produces a golf ball sized fruit which ripens very late, often hanging on the tree after the leaves drop. When fully ripe, persimmons are soft and honey-sweet with a dash of spice. 'Gordon' was selected by John Gordon from the Buffalo, NY area. It was a seedling growing in the Geneva Experimental Station test plot. The delicious oval fruit is medium/large with a firmer texture than most. The fruit ripens slowly from early October until November Fruit measures 2.5 to 3", large for an American persimmon. Geneva persimmon produces a very sweet delicious fruit that is astringent until soft. Geneva persimmon trees are deciduous and contain both male and female parts making it a self fertile specimen
