To maintain a tidy and thriving environment, keep the ground around the base of the trees free of grass and weeds, and apply a layer of mulch to retain moisture and suppress unwanted vegetation. For enhanced drainage, especially in heavier soils, consider mounding the soil around the base of the tree. This Kwanzan variety boasts a moderate growth rate, typically adding 13 to 24 inches of height each year. A notable feature of this cherry tree is its sterility; rest assured, it will not produce fruit, making it an excellent choice for areas where fruit is not desired.
