– Sold OutBuy Ouachita Thornless Blackberry Plants for sale at Advanced Nursery Growers in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
Ouachita is a productive, thornless blackberry known for its sweet flavor, firm fruit, and dependable yields. The glossy-black berries have excellent fresh-eating quality and hold up well after picking. They are also delicious in cobblers, pies, jams, jellies, smoothies, and frozen desserts.
Developed by the University of Arkansas, Ouachita has strong, erect canes and a moderate chilling requirement that makes it a good option for North Florida and the Southeast. It ripens after the earliest varieties, helping extend the blackberry harvest.
Plant Details:
North Florida Growing Note: Ouachita is widely adapted and performs well in warm Southern climates. Its moderate chilling requirement makes it a good blackberry choice for the Florida Panhandle, although production can vary following unusually warm winters.
Pruning Note: Remove the canes that produced berries after harvest. Keep and train the new first-year canes because they will produce the following year’s fruit. Summer tipping encourages side branches and helps increase production.
