Hydrangeas bring beautiful color and classic Southern charm to North Florida landscapes. This collection includes hydrangeas suited to garden beds, foundation plantings, woodland edges, borders, and partly shaded areas throughout the Florida Panhandle.
Most hydrangeas perform best with morning sun and afternoon shade, especially during our hot North Florida summers. They prefer rich, well-drained soil that stays evenly moist but does not remain waterlogged. A layer of mulch around the root zone helps conserve moisture and protect the roots from summer heat.
Flower color, bloom season, mature size, pruning needs, and sun tolerance vary by type. Bigleaf hydrangeas may produce blue, purple, or pink flowers depending partly on soil conditions, while panicle and oakleaf hydrangeas generally keep their natural flower colors. Check each product description for the best planting location and pruning recommendations.
Newly planted hydrangeas need regular watering while becoming established. Avoid planting them in areas exposed to intense afternoon sun unless the particular variety is known to tolerate more sunlight.
Most plants are available for local pickup at our nursery in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Limited shipping may be available for select smaller plants. Please contact us before ordering if shipping is needed.
