Buy Navaho Thornless Blackberry plants for sale at Advanced Nursery Growers in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Its canes are easy to work around, and the fruit is excellent for fresh eating, baking, jams, and freezing. advancednurserygrowers.com

Plant Details:

  • Plant Type: Perennial fruiting bramble
  • Botanical Name: Rubus ‘Navaho’
  • Blackberry Type: Thornless, upright, floricane-fruiting
  • Mature Size: Approximately 4–6 feet tall; allow room for the canes to spread
  • Sun: Full sun
  • USDA Zones: Approximately 6–9
  • Chill Hours: Approximately 800–900 hours
  • Bloom/Harvest: Flowers in spring; fruit ripens later in the blackberry season, depending on location and weather
  • Fruit: Firm, small to medium black berries with excellent sweet flavor
  • Thorns: Thornless
  • Pollination: Self-fertile
  • Soil/Water: Fertile, well-drained soil; keep evenly moist during flowering and fruit development
  • Landscape Uses: Berry rows, edible gardens, home orchards, and fruiting hedges

Pollinator Partners: No second blackberry variety is required. Navaho is self-fertile and can produce berries on its own. Other blackberry varieties may be planted nearby to extend the harvest season, but they are not needed to pollinate Navaho. advancednurserygrowers.com

North Florida Growing Note: Navaho’s 800–900-hour chill requirement can make fruit production unreliable during milder winters around DeFuniak Springs. It fruits on second-year canes: after harvest, remove the canes that produced berries and keep healthy new canes for next year’s crop. hos.ifas.ufl.edu
