Moorpark Apricot Tree

Buy Moorpark Apricot Trees for sale at Advanced Nursery Growers in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.

Moorpark Apricot is a longtime favorite prized for its exceptionally rich apricot flavor and aroma. The large golden-yellow to orange fruit has sweet, juicy flesh and is excellent for eating fresh as well as canning, preserves, drying, baking, and other kitchen uses.

Moorpark produces freestone fruit, making the pit easier to separate from the flesh when fully ripe. The tree is self-fruitful, so a second apricot variety is not required for pollination.

North Florida Growing Note: Moorpark Apricot requires approximately 600 chill hours. Although its listed hardiness range includes Zone 8, apricots are generally not considered dependable fruit trees for North Florida. Our warm, humid climate, fluctuating winter temperatures, disease pressure, and spring weather can make fruit production inconsistent. Moorpark is best offered to customers who understand that it is an experimental or marginal fruit tree for the Florida Panhandle, rather than one of our reliably recommended varieties.

For the best chance of success, plant in full sun in an elevated, exceptionally well-drained location with good air circulation. Avoid low, wet areas and frost pockets.
