Astringent persimmons are known for their rich sweetness and soft, almost custard-like texture when fully ripe. This collection includes astringent persimmon tree varieties currently available at Advanced Nursery Growers.

Varieties such as Hachiya, Tanenashi, Saijo, Giombo, and Great Wall produce flavorful fruit that should be allowed to become fully soft before eating. When eaten too early, the fruit can have a dry, mouth-puckering taste. Once properly ripened, astringent persimmons are excellent for fresh eating, baking, preserves, drying, and desserts.

Persimmon trees are attractive, easy-care fruit trees that grow best in full sun and well-drained soil. Many varieties are self-fruitful and can produce with one tree, although planting another compatible persimmon nearby may improve fruit production.

These persimmon trees are well suited to North Florida, the Florida Panhandle, South Alabama, the Gulf Coast, and other warm Southern growing areas. Varieties, sizes, and availability may change throughout the season.
