Grafted Cactus is a colorful, easy-care houseplant made by joining a brightly colored cactus top to a vigorous green cactus rootstock. Often called a Moon Cactus, it adds vivid color and unusual form to windowsills, desks, patios, and succulent arrangements. Colors may include red, pink, orange, yellow, or combinations, depending on availability.

Plant Details:

  • Plant Type: Grafted tropical cactus
  • Botanical Name: Gymnocalycium mihanovichii grafted onto cactus rootstock
  • Mature Size: Approximately 4–12 inches tall
  • Light: Bright, indirect light or gentle morning sun
  • USDA Zones: 10–11 outdoors; grow indoors in colder areas
  • Flower Color: Pale pink, white, or light-colored flowers may occasionally appear
  • Water: Allow the soil to dry thoroughly between waterings; never leave the pot sitting in water
  • Soil: Fast-draining cactus or succulent potting mix
  • Cold Hardiness: Protect from temperatures below 50°F and all frost
  • Special Care: Avoid intense afternoon sun, which can scorch the colorful upper cactus
  • Landscape Uses: Houseplant, tabletop display, covered patio container, succulent garden, or gift plant

Important Growing Note: The colorful upper cactus has little or no chlorophyll and depends on the green rootstock for survival. Keep the grafted sections connected and remove any new shoots that develop from the rootstock below the graft.

Color Notice: Grafted Cactus colors and shapes are assorted and may vary according to current availability.
